Rick Denzien is a
relentless promoter of his music, including assuring his album
was eligible for the
Grammy process in 9 categories. The songs
on Exit 21 have an REM influence including the opening track
"Desperation" and my favorite track "Father
Love." Moody lyrics and melodies permeate throughout this
collection of 13 songs, lifting into some pop choruses, though
throughout there seems to be a conscious choice to keep the
vocals low in the mix and the bass up front. The result is a MOR
feeling college modern rock collection that works well in it's
niche. |
