Helps Me to Know

Title: Helps Me To Know Words & Music by: Rick Denzien Well I know that you haven’t got much money And I know that you haven’t got fame And I don’t know anyone who does We keep on working just the same And we play the rich man’s game But it seems like – seems like we always loose Though you try hard and I try hard too There isn’t much you can do With a heart torn in two But on a night like tonight it helps me to know My steps are ordered in the path I go and I know you try but there’s more than just getting by I know you try but there’s more than just getting by Well you know I could go for a fortune I could get into the push and grab But I don’t know anyone who makes it alive You lay your soul down on a slab And your life becomes drab Working so hard just to keep your car And you spend your time trying to sell Hide so no one can tell That you’re not at all well But on a night like tonight it helps me to know My steps are ordered in the path I go and I know you got that itch but there’s more than just getting rich I know you got that itch but there’s more than just getting rich And I think that we could fly – if we weren’t so tied down And I always knew something was wrong – and I know it won’t go on Well I know that this life is a struggle And those who have the most really have the least Making big plans for here can be a waste Cause god knows this will end And I can’t pretend To know love or feel love I got to hope and pray Cause If I live for money – I can’t know love too Are the words speaking to you too What are we gonna do? But on a night like tonight it helps me to know My steps are ordered in the path I go and I’d lay that money down and let love – love come around I’d lay that money down because love – love can be found You can’t serve two masters © MCMMXCIV to date Rick Denzien / Slot 1 Entertainment, Inc., (ASCAP) all rights reserved
