The PHOENIX TOOLS' design moves the traditional arc track from internal linkage, or gear quadrant, to external links. This allows the arms to be bolted together at the pivot point to from a cutter. This design also enables the lever arm to grow with the arm length, to avoid loss of opening and closing force. NOTE: All PHOENIX Spreading Forces listed are measured at the very tip of the jaw, not at the base. The closer you move toward the pivot point, the higher the opening force.
