About One Of A Kind

This is my girl next door / home town song.  Katrina was blonde and Melinda was a brunette -  I haven't seen them since I was 16.  She was my best friend as a little boy.  We used to play out back in a very large gully from morning until night.  So the song is really about the street on which I grew up.

 Title: One Of A Kind
Words & Music by: Rick Denzien

I see the bags underneath your eyes
Like a seer you see true and wise
When you were very young you tried so hard
But crawling down the street your soul got marred
Nobody else could see you

There was a dragon’s head – and a little boy’s sled
And a big ravine – and the prettiest girl I ever seen
Just remember if your soul gets lost
Given up what’s left behind
Holding on like you were the one of a kind

A shadow cast near the stream you go
Any more than this you’ll never know
And even when you stayed up every night
Nothing ever could make it true or right
Nobody else could free you

There was a dragon’s head – and a little boy’s sled
And a big ravine – and the prettiest girl I ever seen
Just remember if your soul gets lost
Given up what’s left behind
Holding on like you were the one

I know I want you - but I know I can’t have you so I leave it all behind
Always reaching out for the things I cannot see, cannot touch, cannot find – but never never mind

I see the bags underneath your eyes
Like a seer you see true and wise
When you were very young you tried so hard
But crawling down the street your soul got marred
Nobody else could see you

There was a dragon’s head – and a little boy’s sled
And a big ravine – and the prettiest girl I ever seen
Just remember if your soul gets lost
Given up what’s left behind
Holding on like you were the one of a kind
